Back pain is a common issue that affects many people, and it can be caused by a variety of factors, including poor posture, injury, and inflammation.
Fortunately, Ayurveda offers many practical tools for ensuring that our backs support us for years to come.
Here are 3 tips for managing back pain:
1. Investigate the root cause:
Back pain could be triggered by an acute injury, or years of poor posture and habits like a sedentary lifestyle, typing, texting, rigorous exercise, sports, dance, laborious work, inflammation due to poor diet, and stress or other emotional factors.
2. Practice yoga:
Yoga asanas and breathwork like nadi shodhan pranayama (alternate nostril breathing) and abdominal or full yogic breathing which calm Vata are very effective interventions.
3. Get a massage:
Ayurvedic massage therapy is very helpful in back pain relief and correction of posture.
In addition to these tips, Ayurveda provides holistic solutions to address the root cause of lower back pain, gain long term relief and prevent recurrences.

Shallaki (Boswelia Serrata),

The Cat-Cow Stretch (Chakravakasana),
Extended Triangle (Trikonasana),
Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana), and
Crocodile pose (Makarasana)
are some yoga poses that can help ease back pain.
3. Proper nutrition:
Proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle changes have a great impact on back pain relief. Each a balanced and wholesome diet including beans, lentils, meat, ghee, pulses, eggs etc
