3 Changes in Your Dinner for Better Health

Dear Readers,

Welcome to this milestone issue of our weekly newsletter.

Today, we will discuss how simple changes in your dinner choices can significantly enhance your overall well-being.

Mindful adjustments to your evening meal can improve digestion and promote balance.

Let's explore 3 foods you should avoid eating during dinner for optimal health.

1. Curd - "Naktham na dadhi bhunjeetha"

Even a healthy person should avoid curd at night. Curd is considered heavy to digest and can lead to mucus formation, disrupting the kapha dosha.

This disruption can cause heaviness, block circulation, and lead to indigestion, constipation, gas, and even paralysis.

Instead, opt for lighter alternatives like buttermilk or warm milk if you crave dairy.

2. Green Leafy Vegetables

Although nutritious, green leafy vegetables are high in cellulose and have a cooling nature that hinders digestion during the slower evening metabolism.

They can cause bloating, gas, headaches, sleeplessness, and loose motions.

It's best to consume these vegetables earlier in the day when your digestive fire is stronger.

3. Fruits

Ayurveda discourages nighttime fruit consumption due to their cooling nature, potential to disrupt digestive fire, and high water content, which can cause discomfort or bloating.

Some fruits have laxative effects that may interfere with the slowed digestive system at night.

Save fruits for breakfast or lunch when your digestion is more robust.

Action Points:

- Monitor Your Dinner:

Assess your current dinner habits and identify if you are consuming any of these foods at night.

- Make Substitutions:

Replace curd with buttermilk or warm milk, and green leafy vegetables with root vegetables or grains. Save fruits for earlier in the day.

- Listen to Your Body:

Pay attention to how your body reacts to different foods at night. Adjust your diet accordingly to promote better digestion and overall well-being.

Revamping your dinner choices can lead to significant improvements in your health. By making these mindful adjustments, you can enhance your digestion, maintain balance, and enjoy a more restful night.

Stay informed, stay healthy, and take control of your dietary habits.
