Cooling Down Pitta for Balance
Dear Reader,
After exploring Vata imbalance in our previous edition, let’s now move to the second dosha — Pitta.
Pitta represents fire and water — it governs metabolism, digestion, intelligence, vision, and skin luster. When in balance, Pitta gives us clarity, courage, strong digestion, and glowing skin. But when it gets aggravated, it shows up as:
Acid reflux, ulcers, or loose motions
Irritability, anger, or impatience
Burning sensations, excessive thirst, or sweating
Skin problems like rashes, acne, or inflammation
Sensitivity to heat and intolerance of spicy foods
Modern lifestyle triggers Pitta through overwork, late nights, excess spicy/fried food, alcohol, and stress-driven perfectionism.
The antidote? Cool, calm, and compassionate living.
Vardhan’s Tip of the Week
Favor cooling foods like cucumber, coconut water, sweet fruits, and leafy greens.
Avoid spicy, oily, fried, and fermented foods.
Practice Sheetali or Sheetkari pranayama to cool the body and mind.
Spend time in nature, especially under the moonlight.
Use sandalwood, rose water, or aloe vera for skin soothing.
Dr. Vardhan Says
"An angry stomach and an angry mind are both signs of Pitta imbalance. The fire within you is powerful — but only when it’s controlled. Feed it with cool foods, gentle thoughts, and calming practices. Let your inner fire be a lamp, not a wildfire."
With strength and resilience,
